Macduff Shipyards Limited has completed the whitefish trawler ‘Benarkle II’ PD 400 for the Peterhead, UK, based Benarkle Partnership.
Skippered by Mark Addison, the vessel replaces the previous Benarkle which was also built in the Macduff Yard in 2002. Benarkle has been sold and renamed Shekinah.
Benarkle II is a stretched version of the recently completed Jacqueline Anne and Vision III, allowing more length in the aft net handling area of the main deck.
The vessel has a double chine hull form, with a flared bulbous bow and a transom stern.
Macduff Profilers provided the steel kit from cutting information supplied by Macduff Ship Design Limited, and the complete vessel was fabricated, engineered and fitted out in Macduff.
The main engine is a Caterpillar C32 ACERT rated 660HP @ 1800RPM, with a Reintjes WAF 374 reverse reduction gearbox, with 7.476:1 reduction ratio, driving a 2300mm diameter 4 blade propeller by Teignbridge Propellers Ltd, housed in a fixed nozzle.
Other equipment includes: Navigation equipment by Simrad, Furuno, Koden, Olex, Sodena and Transas; WASSP and Simrad fish finding equipment; Simrad trawl monitoring equipment; a fishroom chilling and ice maker by Premier Refrigeration; and Marel weighing equipment.
